A recent leak suggests that a new Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) set is planned for a Summer 2025 release.  This upcoming expansion is rumored to be based on the popular fifth generation of Pokémon games, Black and White.

The leak follows the recent release of the Prismatic Evolutions set, which launched in January 2025 and has been plagued by stock shortages.  Further Prismatic Evolutions products, including a Surprise Box, Mini Tin, Booster Bundle, and new figures, are expected between early February and mid-May 2025.

According to the leak, the new set is expected to draw inspiration from the Japanese Black Bolt and White Flare sets launching in Japan on June 6, 2025. The English version is rumored to follow shortly after, with a potential release date of July 18, 2025. The names Black Bolt and White Flare seem to hint at the legendary Pokémon Reshiram and Zekrom, respectively, further solidifying the connection to Generation 5.  These terms were trademarked by The Pokémon Company back in September 2024.

Like Prismatic Evolutions, this upcoming release is reported to be a "special set," meaning booster packs won't be sold individually. Instead, they will be available exclusively within products like Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs), Mini Tins, and other bundled products. The leak suggests two ETBs, likely themed around Zekrom and Reshiram, will kick off the product line.

Two Booster Bundles are also anticipated for an August 22 release.  These bundles are expected to contain different cards, as most TCG sets typically feature a single Booster Bundle, suggesting more than just a visual difference between the two.  Between the rumored ETB and Booster Bundle releases, two Tech Sticker Collections and Illustration Rare Boxes are slated for August 1.

Another TCG set is reportedly in the pipeline for a May 30 release, bridging the gap between the previously revealed Journey Together set (launching March 28) and this Summer 2025 set. This May set is rumored to compile cards from four Japanese releases: Heat Wave Arena, The Glory of Team Rocket, Marnie’s Morpeko and Grimmsnarl ex, and Steven’s Beldum and Metagross ex. These sets mark the return of the "Owner's Pokemon" card variant, now renamed "Trainer's Pokemon."  Marnie and Steven's decks are expected to include an Illustration Rare card each.
