Horizon MMO Development Continues Despite Previous Cancellation Rumors

Rumors circulated that the Horizon MMO, a collaboration between PlayStation and NCSoft, had been canceled amidst NCSoft's financial challenges.  These rumors stemmed from reports of a canceled Project H, which many assumed to be the Horizon MMO.

However, the journalist who initially reported on Project H's cancellation has clarified that it was unrelated to the Horizon project.  This clarification brings renewed hope for the MMO's future, especially given PlayStation's recent cancellation of other live-service projects.

The Horizon franchise has a promising future with several projects on the horizon, pun intended.  Fans eagerly anticipate new content, including the much-discussed MMO and a separate co-op multiplayer game.

While PlayStation initially aimed for an ambitious 10 live-service games by 2026, several have been shelved, including The Last of Us online project and Concord. The Horizon MMO is among the few survivors, suggesting PlayStation's continued faith in the franchise's potential.

Guerrilla Games, the studio behind the Horizon series, is also developing a Horizon co-op multiplayer game, which is rumored to be their next release, possibly in 2025.  Given the MMO's relatively recent development start in late 2022, it's likely to launch later, potentially towards the end of the PS5's life cycle.
