PS5 Astro Bot Bundle Rumored for Spring 2025 Release

2025-02-11 22:59:48

Reports from reputable industry insiders indicate that Sony is preparing a new PlayStation 5 bundle featuring Astro Bot. This potential bundle is expected to launch in both North America and Europe, with the possibility of expanding to other regions.

This news follows recent PS5 bundles like the Fortnite Cobalt Star pack and two Japan-exclusive Monster Hunter Wilds bundles.  Sony has regularly bundled its ninth-generation console with games and other add-ons since its late 2020 launch.

Sony recently announced updated sales figures for the PlayStation 5, marking four years since the console's initial release.  Now, according to Dealabs leaker Billbil-kun, the company is planning to package the PS5 with Astro Bot. The bundle is anticipated to include the standard PS5 Disc Edition, rather than the newer Slim model released in November 2023.

Billbil-kun suggests a late winter or early spring 2025 release, specifically mentioning March 13th as a possible launch date. The estimated price range for Europe is between €474.99 and €499.99, similar to the Fortnite Cobalt Star bundle. While the bundle is said to include a download code for Astro Bot, it remains unclear whether it will be for the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition.

If this rumor proves accurate, Sony may officially announce the bundle during a potential State of Play event in mid-February, as suggested by leaker Nate the Hate. This timeframe aligns with the predicted March release window.

Bundling Astro Bot with the PS5 would showcase Sony's faith in the game's appeal and could further boost its sales.  Astro Bot has already proven successful, with reported sales of 1.5 million copies within two months of its release. Developed by a team of approximately 65 people over three years, the game has likely already achieved profitability, especially considering its status as a first-party title, exempt from the standard 30% PS Store revenue cut.
