Former Dragon Age: The Veilguard director Corinne Busche has embarked on a new chapter in her career, joining Wizards of the Coast's Skeleton Key studio.  The project she'll be leading remains shrouded in mystery, sparking excitement and speculation within the gaming community.

Busche's tenure at EA spanned from 2012 to 2024, where she contributed to notable titles including The Sims 4.  She stepped into the director role for Dragon Age: The Veilguard in 2022, navigating the project through a period of leadership changes.  While the game received positive critical acclaim, its commercial performance fell short of EA's expectations, reaching approximately 1.5 million players by the end of 2024.  Busche's departure from BioWare in January 2025 was unrelated to the game's sales figures, according to her statement at the time.

Wizards of the Coast confirmed Busche's appointment at Skeleton Key, revealing her involvement in an unannounced project.  This news comes from an interview with Wizards of the Coast’s head of digital gaming, Dan Ayoub.  Busche joins other industry veterans at the studio, including former Dragon Age producer Christian Dailey.

Skeleton Key's current focus has been somewhat turbulent.  Until recently, the studio was reportedly working on two projects, including a AAA horror title.  However, this horror game was canceled last month, leading to some staff layoffs.  Ayoub explained that this decision was made to consolidate resources and focus on the remaining project, rather than shuttering the studio entirely.

The nature of Busche's new project remains open to speculation.  Given the studio's affiliation with Wizards of the Coast, possibilities include the highly anticipated Baldur's Gate 4 or another RPG based on the Dungeons & Dragons universe.  Recent comments from Hasbro and Ayoub regarding the strong interest in the Baldur's Gate franchise further fuel this speculation, particularly as Larian Studios is not currently developing a sequel.  However, these possibilities remain conjecture until official details are revealed by Wizards of the Coast.
