Microids' classic point-and-click adventure game, Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy, originally released in 1999, launched on Steam in 2001 and is now available for free for a limited time.

In 1932, Alexandre Valembois, a young explorer, journeys to the enigmatic Amerzone region alongside his local companion, Antonio Álvarez, seeking fame and discovery.  Befriending the indigenous people, he witnesses a sacred ritual involving the legendary egg of a white bird.  Driven by ambition, Alexandre betrays their trust and steals the mystical egg.  Upon his return to France, however, his tales of Amerzone and the white bird are met with disbelief.

Sixty years pass, and the world undergoes a transformation. World War II has ended, yet Amerzone remains unexplored, its access forbidden by its authoritarian leader, Antonio Álvarez.  Now an aging man residing in a lighthouse, Alexandre Valembois seeks to atone for his past transgressions.  A young journalist visits the elderly explorer, eager to hear the story of his adventures...
