Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Introduces New Wave Defense Mode for Easier Action-Packed Gameplay

Developer Fatshark recently announced the upcoming release of a new wave defense game mode for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, launching on March 25th.  This addition aims to provide players with a more accessible way to enjoy the game's intense action.

Starting at account "Trust Level" 13, players can jump into the new "Mortis Trials" mode, pitting them against 12 escalating waves of enemies.  Every three waves constitute an "objective phase", tasking players with mini-objectives to earn supplies and powerful buffs.

Inspired by rogue-lite games, these buffs are integrated with the mode's unique "Indulgences" system.  Fatshark's blog post details several Indulgence categories including "Pyrokinetic," "Voltiac," "Fulminator," "Death Dealer," and "Colossus."  The first three focus on elemental damage boosts, while the latter two emphasize melee combat and survivability. Players can choose their preferred Indulgences to gain distinct advantages, with the possibility of stacking effects for potent combinations.

Fatshark describes the new mode as delivering "chaotic, accessible, and instantly enjoyable fun."

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a cooperative first-person shooter for up to four players.  The game is currently available on Steam with a price tag of $29.99 USD (regular price) and has seen discounted pricing as low as $14.99 USD.
