The Spanish studio Path Games, known for their 2022 horror title Insomnis, has announced their next chilling project: Dark Mass. This first-person psychological horror game plunges players into a unique and oppressive underwater setting, a sunken manor shrouded in mystery.

Unlike their previous work, Dark Mass takes the unsettling atmosphere to new depths, literally.  Players take on the role of Alice, a deep-sea diver who stumbles upon a submerged manor after a seismic event. Trapped within its decaying walls, Alice must decipher ancient rituals to escape the lurking horrors.

The recently released reveal trailer offers a glimpse into the gameplay and the terrifying creatures that inhabit this underwater world. While the monsters themselves are fictional, the game's world draws inspiration from historical torture practices, adding a layer of chilling realism to the macabre rituals Alice must perform.

Path Games promises a substantial campaign for Dark Mass, estimating a playthrough of four to six hours. Player choices will shape the narrative, adding replay value and a personalized experience.  A walkie-talkie system, used to communicate with Alice's brother Reed, hints at the potential for branching storylines and impactful decisions.

Though a specific release date remains elusive, Path Games is targeting a Fall 2026 launch for Dark Mass on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. With its claustrophobic setting, gruesome rituals, and unsettling atmosphere, Dark Mass promises a truly terrifying experience for fans of psychological horror, particularly those with a penchant for maritime nightmares.
