Days Gone Roars Back to Life: Remastered Edition and PC DLC Detailed
2025-03-17 19:33:29Bend Studio has officially confirmed the availability of the Days Gone Broken Road DLC wishlist on Steam for PC gamers. Launching alongside the Days Gone Remastered edition for PlayStation 5 on April 25, 2025, this DLC delivers comparable enhancements and new features to its console counterpart, revitalizing this popular post-apocalyptic experience.
Originally released on PlayStation 4 in 2019 and ported to PC in 2021, Days Gone immerses players in a ravaged Oregon landscape two years after a devastating viral outbreak transformed humanity into ferocious Freakers. Players follow the journey of Deacon St. John, a drifter searching for his wife, presumed lost in the chaos. The Days Gone Remastered pre-orders have seen impressive early success, climbing the PS Store charts despite the controversy surrounding the fan demand for a sequel.
Announced via a Steam blog post, Bend Studio encouraged players to wishlist the Broken Road DLC and highlighted its key features. Along with the previously announced enhancements for the PlayStation 5 remaster, the PC DLC boasts DualSense controller support, an improved photo mode, and new accessibility options like High Contrast mode and adjustable game speed. Furthermore, the DLC introduces a new Horde Assault survival arcade mode, a Speedrun mode, and a challenging Permadeath mode.
While some fans have expressed disappointment with the digital-only release of the remaster, others have criticized the DLC's perceived lack of substantial new content, arguing that features like controller support and new modes shouldn't be classified as such. Conversely, many players welcomed the additional modes, expressing excitement for the hardcore challenges they present.
The return of Days Gone contributes to a resurgence of undead-themed games in 2025. Alongside Days Gone, Sony is also releasing The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PC in April, coinciding with the HBO series' second season premiere. Other anticipated zombie titles include Dying Light: The Beast and John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, both slated for 2025 releases. Furthermore, State of Decay 3 remains in development, with rumors circulating about a potential Back 4 Blood sequel.
