Incredible Cross-Map RPG Helicopter Takedown in Battlefield 2042

A Battlefield 2042 player recently achieved an impressive feat, eliminating an enemy helicopter with a near impossible cross-map RPG shot.  Despite EA ending post-launch support for Battlefield 2042 last year with Season 7 to focus on the next Battlefield installment (currently in closed playtesting), players continue to find innovative ways to engage with the game.

Battlefield distinguishes itself from other multiplayer FPS games like Call of Duty through its dynamic vehicular combat.  The series is known for its sandbox-style gameplay, offering players access to a variety of vehicles from tanks and helicopters to trucks, alongside tools like RPGs and C4 to counter them. This combination often leads to spectacular, “only in Battlefield” moments, pushing the boundaries of in-game possibilities.  This RPG shot is a prime example.

The impressive clip, shared by Dexerto on Twitter, showcases player ryefry77 skillfully tracking and eliminating a distant helicopter with a well-placed RPG.  Running along a hilltop, ryefry77 goes prone and carefully calculates the shot, accounting for the helicopter’s distance and flight path.  The rocket travels for a noticeable three seconds before impacting the target, highlighting the difficulty of the shot.

The clip sparked a debate among fans on whether the shot was pure skill or simply luck. While ryefry77 undoubtedly demonstrates impressive skill and likely practice, the helicopter maintaining a consistent flight path contributed to the shot’s success.  Even a slight deviation from the pilot could have easily resulted in a miss.
