Final Fantasy XIV: Patch 7.2 Preview and Upcoming Live Letter Details

2025-01-25 06:16:18

The critically acclaimed MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, is gearing up for its next major content update, and fans can get their first glimpse soon.  The 85th Letter from the Producer LIVE, focused on Patch 7.2, is scheduled for February 7th.  The broadcast will offer a preview of the upcoming content with slides in both English and Japanese. However, note that live translation will not be provided for the Japanese audio portion of the Live Letter.

This Live Letter follows the recent release of Patch 7.16, a smaller update that concluded the Dawntrail Role Quest series and implemented PvP balance adjustments. With the 7.1 cycle now complete, anticipation builds for the substantial content expected in 7.2.

In other news, Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida recently stated that Square Enix is considering legal action against the creator of a controversial mod, further highlighting the company's commitment to protecting the game's integrity.

Returning to the upcoming Live Letter, based on past broadcasts, players can anticipate several reveals. These likely include a teaser for the Patch 7.2 Main Scenario Quests (potentially showcasing a new dungeon and trial), the second phase of the Arcadion raid, and significant changes to Frontlines.  Further possibilities include additional Custom Deliveries, new Allied Society quests, a continuation of the Hildibrand storyline (which began in Patch 7.15), and the commencement of the Dawntrail Relic weapon questline.

Additionally, fans are hopeful for news regarding the highly anticipated Cosmic Exploration lifestyle content and Shades' Triangle field operation, both potential additions in this update. While surprises are always possible, certain elements are unlikely to feature in this particular Live Letter. This includes the next installment of the Final Fantasy XI collaboration raid (expected in Patch 7.3) and the new Beastmaster limited job, projected for later in the year with Patch 7.4. Extensive in-game footage beyond screenshots is also unlikely for this broadcast.

While a concrete release date for Patch 7.2 probably won't be announced during this Live Letter, based on the typical six-to-eight-week timeframe between Live Letters and patch releases, along with the established four-month update cadence, a mid-to-late March release appears likely.  A firm date will likely be revealed in the 86th Letter from the Producer LIVE, expected approximately two weeks prior to the patch's launch.
