The immensely popular Baldur's Gate 3 stands as a testament to the appeal of D&D-based video games, but it's not the only one in the works. Fans of tabletop role-playing games have even more to look forward to, with the next big title potentially just around the corner.  This upcoming game is being developed by none other than the acclaimed Critical Role team.

For those unfamiliar, Critical Role is a group of professional voice actors who gained widespread recognition through their meticulously crafted and livestreamed D&D campaigns on Twitch. Their popularity has even led to an animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina, based on their first campaign.

Details remain scarce, aside from the game's setting in Exandria, the D&D world created by Matthew Mercer, and the significant degree of player agency promised. Players will have considerable control over the narrative, influencing the fates of both beloved characters and new faces within the Exandria setting.

The air of mystery surrounding the project leaves much to the imagination, but the involvement of individuals deeply familiar with the D&D system generates considerable excitement. RPG fans undoubtedly have something special to anticipate.

While waiting for the game's reveal and eventual release, players can revisit the world of Baldur's Gate 3.  Larian Studios is currently testing Patch 8, which will introduce 12 new subclasses and a photo mode, among other additions. While a firm release date remains elusive, signs point to it being just around the corner.
