The Grid comes alive this summer with the release of TRON: Catalyst. Developed by UK-based Bithell Games, this isometric action title arrives on June 17th across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

TRON: Catalyst offers a fresh take on the beloved sci-fi franchise owned by Disney.  Stepping away from the visual novel approach of TRON: Identity, Bithell Games aims to deliver a more dynamic experience.  First unveiled in October 2024, the game follows Exo, a courier who unexpectedly gains the potent ability known as the Glitch.  Players will guide Exo through the perilous world of Arq Grid, confronting powerful forces in fast-paced combat.

A recent preview event showcased TRON: Catalyst's gameplay and world.  The isometric perspective offers a unique view of the iconic TRON universe, reimagined by Bithell Games.  Players will engage in both Identity Disc battles and high-speed Light Cycle chases.  The game promises a varied combat system, allowing for melee and ranged attacks whether on foot or aboard a Light Cycle.

The release date announcement was accompanied by a new trailer highlighting the game's combat and traversal mechanics.  The trailer also reveals Exo's encounter with Conn, a key antagonist in the story.

TRON: Catalyst is not the only TRON project slated for release in 2025. Fans can also look forward to TRON: Ares, the sequel to 2010's TRON: Legacy, set to premiere on October 10th. After a lengthy development period, TRON: Ares is finally on its way to theaters.

The recent resurgence of video game adaptations based on classic sci-fi films is an encouraging trend. Alongside TRON: Catalyst, Terminator: Survivors is expected later in 2025, while the retro-inspired Terminator 2D: No Fate launches on September 5th.  Even Back to the Future is rumored to be receiving a video game adaptation. These projects offer a promising future for beloved franchises, potentially reaching new audiences and further solidifying their place in popular culture.
