Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Swings onto PC with Mixed Reception

The highly anticipated PC version of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has finally arrived on Steam, priced at $59.99 USD.  Despite featuring simplified Chinese localization, the game has garnered a mixed reception with a current approval rating hovering around 57% based on over 780 user reviews.  Interestingly, common user-defined tags include "Political" and "LGBTQ+".

Two primary factors appear to be contributing to the less-than-stellar reviews.  Technical performance seems to be a significant hurdle for some players.  Several reports cite issues with the game's opening QTE sequence featuring Sandman, describing it as noticeably choppy.  Furthermore, others have encountered crashes with the error code DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG after completing the Sandman prologue, preventing them from progressing further.

The game's pricing also appears to be a sticking point. Considering Marvel's Spider-Man 2 originally launched on PS5 over a year ago, the nearly $60 price tag for the PC version is being perceived by some as excessively high, especially for a game that's already been available for a considerable amount of time.

Despite the negative feedback,  data from SteamDB reveals a peak concurrent player count of over 18,000, with current numbers remaining close to 17,000.  This robust player base, just hours after launch, suggests significant interest in the PC port of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
