Konami's latest installment in the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill f, is poised to be the most disturbing and violent entry to date.  The game has recently received a CERO Z rating in Japan, marking the first time in the series' 26-year history that a Silent Hill title has earned an 18+ rating.

The ESRB, North America's rating board, further substantiates the game's graphic nature, citing scenes where enemy attacks can result in the player character being impaled through the neck or having their face torn off.

Adding to the unsettling atmosphere, several cutscenes depict extreme violence. Some of these visuals have already been glimpsed in the game's trailer.  Disturbing examples include:

A character being burned alive while trapped in a cage.

A woman being branded with a hot iron.

A fantastical celebration/ritual featuring platters of entrails and sinew.

A character resorting to self-mutilation by sawing off their own arm.

A ritualistic scene where a character removes a portion of another's face.

With acclaimed visual novel writer Ryukishi07, known for his work on the When They Cry series, at the helm of Silent Hill f's narrative, the game promises a descent into psychological horror unlike any other in the series.
