Narrative-driven AAA games have become synonymous with the PlayStation brand, which explains the backlash Sony received when it pivoted towards "live-service" titles.

In a recent interview with Game File, Insomniac Games CEO and founder Ted Price shared that his best decision as studio head was to double down on narrative-focused character action games.  This strategic move, he explains, was a collective decision within Insomniac, and promises to deliver more emotionally resonant experiences akin to Marvel's Spider-Man.

Price also addressed the escalating budgets of AAA game development.  He stressed that studios must confront the rising costs head-on rather than shy away from the challenge, believing solutions exist for every obstacle, including this one.

This commitment to narrative-driven development is welcome news for fans, especially considering the cancellation of potential projects like Sunset Overdrive 2 and Resistance 4.  With the upcoming Wolverine title and the highly anticipated Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on the horizon, the future looks bright for Insomniac Games.
