Massive Free Update Coming to Vampire Survivors in April
2025-03-15 00:19:00The wildly popular roguelike shoot 'em up, Vampire Survivors, is set to receive its biggest free update yet this April. Developer Luca "Poncle" Galante recently teased the upcoming patch, promising a wealth of new content for players to sink their teeth into.
Since its early access release in 2021, Vampire Survivors has captivated audiences with its simple yet addictive gameplay loop. Players strive to survive against endless hordes of enemies, strategically upgrading their abilities and weapons along the way. The game has seen numerous updates since launch, but this upcoming April patch is set to dwarf them all.
In a recent Steam announcement, Poncle outlined plans for Vampire Survivors in 2025, highlighting the substantial April update. While the highly acclaimed 'Ode to Castlevania' update in October 2024 became the largest expansion to date, this new patch aims to surpass even that impressive feat. Poncle assures fans that the wait will be worthwhile, stating, "The update will be free and available on all platforms next month. It's probably the biggest free update we've ever done, so please stay tuned for more info very soon!"
The April update also brings highly anticipated cross-save functionality to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and mobile devices. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch users will have to wait a little longer for a subsequent hotfix to implement this feature.
Last year's 'Ode to Castlevania' DLC introduced a plethora of content inspired by Konami's iconic franchise, attracting a wave of new players. With familiar characters, music tracks, a new map, 40 new weapons, and even voice acting from Neil Newbon (Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3), the DLC added significant value to the game. While the future of crossovers remains uncertain, fans are eager to see what other collaborations might be in store.
News of a live-action Vampire Survivors film, currently in development with Story Kitchen (known for their adaptations of Sonic the Hedgehog and the upcoming It Takes Two), surprised many in January 2025, considering the game's minimal narrative focus.
