Microsoft has announced a wave of 10 exciting indie games destined for Xbox Game Pass in 2025, four of which are slated for a late 2025 release. This news emerged from the ID@Xbox Showcase, a platform dedicated to highlighting the innovative and engaging independent games making their way to Xbox Game Pass.

2025 is shaping up to be another stellar year for Game Pass subscribers, echoing the success of 2024 with numerous day-one releases.  The first few months of the year already brought highly anticipated titles, such as Obsidian Entertainment's Avowed, along with third-party gems like Eternal Strands and Citizen Sleeper 2.  This momentum continues with promising upcoming releases like Doom: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, South of Midnight, and Atomfall.

While only one game is currently confirmed for the March 2025 Game Pass lineup, the ID@Xbox Showcase revealed a wealth of titles coming later in the year.  Four games—Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, Tanuki Pon's Summer, Buckshot Roulette, and Echo Weaver—are expected in late 2025. Moonlighter 2, the sequel to the beloved shopkeeper-adventurer action RPG, returns with more dungeon-crawling and shopkeeping fun. Tanuki Pon’s Summer offers a charming experience where players embody a laid-back tanuki delivering packages and befriending locals.  The visually striking Buckshot Roulette brings its unique take on Russian roulette to Game Pass, while Echo Weaver immerses players in a Metroidvania world caught in a time loop.

Several other indie titles are coming to Game Pass before the end of the year.  33 Immortals launches on March 18th, followed by Descenders Next, Blue Prince, and Tempopo in April.  May sees the arrival of the third-person shooter Revenge of the Savage Planet.  The ID@Xbox showcase also surprised fans with the shadow drop of the acclaimed deckbuilder, Balatro.  After its massive success and Game of the Year nomination in 2024, Balatro joins the Game Pass library, further solidifying the platform's reputation for providing high-quality indie experiences.

These confirmed indie games are just a taste of what’s to come for Xbox Game Pass subscribers in 2025. With a diverse range of genres and innovative gameplay, the future of indie gaming on Game Pass looks bright.
