Fortnite has hosted numerous blockbuster crossovers, and now the DC Universe (DCU) is joining the fray.  DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran recently confirmed that skins based on the DCU characters are in the works.  While iconic heroes like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman have graced Fortnite before,  Epic Games has predominantly focused on Marvel crossovers, such as last year's Doctor Doom event tied to the Avengers films.

Currently, DC is undergoing a significant cinematic transformation spearheaded by Gunn and Safran.  Earlier this week, they reiterated plans for DCU-tied video games, although details remain scarce and any related projects are reportedly years away.

Beyond standalone DCU games, Gunn and Safran revealed during a DC Studios presentation that DCU characters will indeed appear in Fortnite.  Gunn confirmed the planned crossovers, while Safran emphasized this as part of a broader gaming strategy, with ongoing discussions with Epic Games about which characters to feature.

While the specific DCU skins remain a mystery, the presentation hinted at several potential candidates. The upcoming Superman reboot, featuring various DC characters alongside the Man of Steel, is a prime example. Other possibilities include tie-ins with the announced animated series "My Adventures With Green Lantern and Starfire," next year's "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," and even a planned Teen Titans movie.

Given the success of Marvel's Fortnite promotions, DC's similar strategy for the burgeoning DCU franchise makes perfect sense.  The possibilities are vast, but Gunn and Safran's focus on gaming as a platform to enhance the cinematic universe is evident.  Imagine Fortnite skins of David Corenswet's Superman and Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane coinciding with their big-screen debut – a compelling prospect indeed.
