Eight years ago, the world was introduced to the captivating and melancholic world of Nier: Automata. Initially released in Japan on February 23, 2017, for the PlayStation 4 and PC, the game later arrived on Xbox One and, in 2022, found a home on the Nintendo Switch.

Set in a distant future, Nier: Automata portrays a desolate Earth overrun by powerful machine lifeforms. Humanity, exiled to a lunar refuge, deploys an android army known as YoRHa to reclaim their planet. The narrative follows the experiences of 2B and 9S, two YoRHa androids, amidst this ongoing war.  Players discover a complex narrative with multiple endings, encompassing 27 different outcomes, ranging from the main storyline's five core endings and a DLC ending to 21 unique game over scenarios triggered by specific in-game actions.

The genesis of Nier: Automata began in 2014, spearheaded by producer Yosuke Saito and visionary director and writer Yoko Taro.  The game's hauntingly beautiful soundtrack is the creation of Keiichi Okabe and Keigo Hoashi.  PlatinumGames' Atsushi Inaba crafted the game's title, while Akihiko Yoshida brought the iconic characters to life through his distinctive character design.

With combined shipments and digital sales exceeding an impressive 9 million units across all platforms, Nier: Automata’s critical acclaim and commercial success have cemented the Nier series' place in gaming history, paving the way for its continued development and expansion.
