Rocket League Season 17 Extended, Crossbar Ping Teased for Season 18

Rocket League Season 17, originally slated to end on March 5, 2025, has received a nine-day extension, pushing its conclusion and the subsequent launch of Season 18 to March 14.  Developer Psyonix announced the shift, accompanying the news with a cryptic teaser: "crossbar ping."

Season 17 commenced on December 4, 2024, introducing the Shokunin Rocket Pass vehicle, the Neo Tokyo (Arcade) Arena Variant, and several limited-time events like Frosty Fest 2024 and the Free Play Party. The extension marks an unusual departure from the typical Wednesday start date for new seasons.

While Psyonix hasn't provided an official reason for the delay, the "crossbar ping" teaser for Season 18 has fueled community speculation. Some interpret it literally, anticipating a new in-game sound effect.  Others believe it hints at adjustments to the game's physics, potentially addressing occasional glitches related to ball-crossbar interactions.

Details about Season 18 remain scarce, with the "crossbar ping" teaser serving as the sole clue.  Pre-extension, Psyonix was expected to unveil Season 18 details in late February. With the new timeline, this announcement is now anticipated around March 4, 2025.

However, based on past trends, Season 18 will almost certainly include a new Rocket Pass featuring a unique theme, a new car body, and numerous cosmetic items.  Players can also anticipate a new Arena variant, limited-time modes and events, a refreshed competitive playlist, a community spotlight, and potentially new collaborations.
