While Fatalities remain the undisputed kings of Mortal Kombat 1, developer NetherRealm Studios has a long history of crafting a diverse range of over-the-top finishers, with Quitalities being a particularly unique way to conclude a match.

Serving as both a sequel and a soft reboot, Mortal Kombat 1 revitalizes the iconic 2D fighting franchise with fresh storylines, characters, and plot twists. Since its 2023 release, the game has received several updates and added numerous pop culture icons to its roster, but the finishing moves remain a fan-favorite feature.  Like its predecessors, Mortal Kombat 1 offers a plethora of elaborate finishing moves to humiliate opponents. However, one notable absence has been Quitalities, a feature that might be making its way into the game soon.

Despite rumors circulating in late 2024 suggesting the cancellation of Kombat Pack 3, hope remains for new DLC characters in Mortal Kombat 1.  A recent video shared by Reddit user InfiniteNightZ showcases what appear to be Hara-Kiri Fatalities.  First introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004), these self-inflicted finishing moves allow defeated players to choose their own demise, adding a layer of self-deprecating humor or dramatic flair to the defeat.  The video demonstrates these animations for the entire roster (excluding Liu Kang and Conan the Barbarian), ranging from gruesome to comical.  Crucially, DLC characters also possess these animations, suggesting they are intended for a future update rather than abandoned content.

Leaked footage of Hara-Kiri animations points towards their potential implementation as Quitalities, a mechanic first seen in Mortal Kombat X.  These unique finishers are triggered exclusively in online matches when an opponent rage quits. Further Hara-Kiri animations were unearthed and shared by Mortal Kombat 1 leaker Interloko, strengthening the case for their inclusion in an upcoming update.  While neither Warner Bros. nor NetherRealm Studios has officially confirmed these findings, the sheer volume of animations, including those for DLC fighters, is compelling evidence.
