The wait is over for some eager Elden Ring fans. Invites for the closed beta playtest of Elden Ring Nightreign are officially being distributed.  Following the surprise announcement at The Game Awards 2024, select players will finally get a chance to experience FromSoftware's latest offering.

The playtest will run from February 14th to 16th, 2025, offering five distinct sessions for players to delve into the mysteries of Nightreign. While the timeframe may seem brief, it promises a wealth of new information and gameplay reveals.

Elden Ring Nightreign is poised to shake up the established Soulsborne formula. Director Junya Ishizaki has hinted at significant changes to the game's environment, including dynamically generated swamps. This promises a unique experience for veterans and newcomers alike.

GameSpot has confirmed the playtest invite rollout, building even more anticipation for the upcoming title.  Publisher Bandai Namco has also specified the precise dates and times for each session, allowing players to prepare for their descent into Nightreign.

While the full game will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, the playtest will be exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

The excitement surrounding Nightreign is palpable, with some players attempting to capitalize on the limited playtest access.  Reports have surfaced of invites being sold online for exorbitant prices, though the actual success of these sales remains unclear.

Nightreign distinguishes itself from its predecessor by focusing on cooperative gameplay. Teams of up to three players will embark on a roguelike adventure, facing the challenges of a constantly shifting world. While retaining the signature challenging combat and unsettling enemies of Elden Ring, Nightreign offers a fresh perspective on the formula.
