CyberConnect2, the developers known for titles like .hack, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series, are bringing their original tactical RPG series, Fuga: Melodies of Steel, to a dramatic conclusion with the third installment. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 is slated to launch on May 29, 2025, for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The Fuga series has carved its own niche within CyberConnect2's portfolio. Unlike their more action-oriented titles, Fuga: Melodies of Steel offers players a unique blend of emotional storytelling and tactical gameplay centered around the Taranis, a powerful tank crewed by children. Players must manage the tank's systems and make strategic decisions as they navigate a war-torn world.

While Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 launched on Xbox Game Pass, CyberConnect2 has not yet confirmed if the third entry will follow suit.  A later announcement or a post-launch addition to the service remains a possibility.

The recently released teaser trailer for Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 expands upon the cryptic "secret movie" teasers hidden within the previous games. Combining new footage and voice acting, the trailer paints a picture of escalating conflict. The Berman Empire's invasion of Gasco sets the stage for a desperate struggle, with the supposedly lost Taranis returning, now equipped with wings and capable of flight.  The narrative hints at a journey that will take the cast to the moon and potentially beyond.

CyberConnect2's press release highlights significant changes to the battle system and upgrades to the "Intermission" system.  This system allows players to enhance the Taranis, unlocking its full potential and even influencing the narrative timeline, potentially altering the characters' fates.  Secret story scenes add further depth to the experience.

Fan reaction to the trailer has been largely positive, with many expressing excitement for the story's climax and the dramatic twists teased.  Others have lauded the series' unique approach to linear JRPG design, opting for a focused narrative experience rather than the sprawling open worlds prevalent in many modern RPGs.
