Pokemon Home has rolled out its version 3.3.0 update following server maintenance, introducing an exciting new medal trading feature available only on the mobile version. After updating Pokemon Home, trainers using supported iOS and Android devices can now collect and trade medals showcasing Starter Pokemon trios from every mainline region, including Kanto, Sinnoh, and Paldea.

This update arrives two months after Pokemon Home introduced a method for trainers to obtain Shiny Mythical Pokemon by completing regional Pokedexes. Completing the Kanto Pokedex in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee rewards players with a Shiny Meltan, transferable to other Pokemon games. Similarly, finishing the Galar Pokedex from Pokemon Sword and Shield and its expansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, grants a Shiny Keldeo. Since Keldeo is typically Shiny-locked, Pokemon Home remains the only legitimate way to acquire its Shiny variant.

While Pokemon Home is renowned for enabling players to trade creatures between games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Legends: Arceus, this update introduces a fresh trading option for fans. Pokemon Home version 3.3.0 debuts a medal feature exclusive to the mobile app. These medals highlight the Starter Pokemon trios from each mainline Pokemon game to date, offering nine unique medals for collectors. Additionally, the update resolves several existing issues.

Upon updating the Pokemon Home app to version 3.3.0 and logging in, players receive three copies of a Starter Pokemon medal, with the specific trio awarded being random. For instance, the Sinnoh medal showcases Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, while the Johto medal displays Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. Free users have limited medal storage, whereas Pokemon Home subscribers enjoy expanded medal slots.

Unlike other games such as Pokemon GO, which awards medals for completing various achievements and collections, Pokemon Home medals are distributed at Pokemon events or Pokemon Center stores. Players can trade medals with friends or via scannable/enterable codes. To stay updated on events featuring Pokemon Home medals, trainers can navigate to the Medals tab in the main menu and select Related Events.

With the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest in June and the 2025 Pokemon World Championships in August, trainers have two prime opportunities to acquire or trade Pokemon Home medals. The popularity of this new feature remains to be seen.
