While Sega might be primarily remembered for its game consoles in China, its mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog, enjoys enduring and growing popularity in the United States.  So much so, that prominent publications like *The Washington Post* have suggested that Sega is experiencing a cultural resurgence, with Sonic's impact becoming comparable to that of Disney princesses.

Following his debut, Sonic, despite not quite matching the popularity of Nintendo's Mario in his home country of Japan, quickly gained immense traction in the US. This popularity has persisted and even intensified, with recent Sonic movies breaking box office records and generating substantial buzz.

Does this suggest a stronger American preference for the blue blur? At least in comparison to Mario, it seems so.  *The Washington Post* has been particularly effusive in its praise, going so far as to declare that Sega is undergoing a cultural revival thanks to Sonic's phenomenal success. They even suggest his influence now rivals that of the classic Disney princesses.
