Pokemon GO Battle League Update: Master League, Spring Cup & Great League Remix Details

Niantic has rolled out exciting changes for Pokemon GO's Might and Mastery Battle League, introducing fresh competitive formats and restrictions. The Spring Cup: Great League Edition now enforces CP limits and type-specific rules, while the returning Great League Remix bans top meta picks to shake up team strategies.

The current season, running from March 4 to June 3, features weekly rotating leagues where trainers can earn premium rewards. Master League offers 4x Stardust bonuses during its active period (April 15-22), alongside the specialized Spring Cup that only permits Water, Grass, and Fairy-type Pokemon under 1,500 CP.

Pokemon GO Battle League Update

Spring Cup Restrictions:

  • CP Limit: 1,500
  • Eligible Types: Water, Grass, Fairy
  • Banned Pokemon: Jumpluff, Roserade, Toxapex

Great League Remix (April 29-May 6):

  • Excludes top 20 most-used Pokemon by Ace+ ranked players
  • Notable bans include Azumarill, Talonflame, and Clodsire

Climbing the ranked ladder unlocks guaranteed encounters with rare Pokemon:

  • Ace Rank: Vullaby
  • Veteran+: Morpeko/Frigibax
  • Legend Rank: Pikachu Libre

The Battle League Timed Research (available in-game) tracks seasonal victories, offering Elite TMs and Rare Candy XL for every 100 wins. The season culminates in GO Battle Week (May 21-27) featuring Mustard-inspired avatar items and extended 4x Stardust bonuses.

With the Great League Remix eliminating common meta picks, trainers must explore unconventional team compositions. The Spring Cup's type restrictions favor bulkier Water-types like Azumarill (where permitted) and fast-charging Grass attackers. Master League competitors should prioritize maxed-out Legendaries and pseudo-Legendaries to dominate the unlimited CP format.

Niantic continues to refresh the competitive landscape with these periodic updates, ensuring the Battle League remains dynamic throughout the Might and Mastery season. Trainers have until June 3 to claim all seasonal rewards before the next rotation begins.
