Overwatch 2 is subtly weaving the narrative of its upcoming damage hero, Freja, into the game's environment.  Players can currently find intriguing Easter eggs related to her bounty hunting past on the Suravasa, Junkertown, and Esperanca maps. These discoveries include bounty marks and hunting equipment, offering a glimpse into Freja's activities before her official debut.

These teasers directly connect to Freja's official Overwatch 2 hero trailer, released ahead of her trial period beginning March 21st and her full release in Season 16 on April 22nd.  The trailer showcases Freja delivering three high-profile bounties to Maximilien, and the in-game Easter eggs provide further context to these targets.

The Easter eggs consist of datapads containing information on bounty targets, accompanied by items like bolas, crossbow bolts, and other hunting gear.  Content creators like Hazelet, Faalund, and Shroomiiee have documented these findings in Esperanca, Junkertown, and Suravasa respectively. The datapads reveal the identities of Freja's targets: Damian Barboza, a con artist in Esperanca; Machete Betty, a Junkertown pit fighter; and Sahil “The Wolf” Bhediya, a mercenary in Suravasa.

The substantial bounties placed on these individuals, combined with their known reputations, underscore Freja's skill and determination as a bounty hunter. This detailed approach to storytelling demonstrates Overwatch 2's commitment to expanding the lore of Future Earth.  Despite past challenges with PvE and story missions, Blizzard is clearly finding alternative ways to engage players with the narrative through in-game elements, cinematics, comics, and short stories.

Players can experience her firsthand during a three-day trial period starting March 21st, offering a sneak peek of her gameplay before her official inclusion in the Season 16 roster on April 22nd.
