In a recent interview with Gamereactor, Assassin's Creed Mirage Creative Director Jonathan Dumont addressed the public discourse surrounding the game's protagonist, Basim Ibn Ishaq.  When asked if the level of criticism and opposition towards Basim was anticipated, Dumont confirmed that it was.

Dumont explained, "We anticipated some degree of controversy, but we firmly believe Basim is a compelling addition to the Assassin's Creed universe.  Beyond his distinct gameplay mechanics, which differ from Senu and Bayek, he represents a fascinating historical figure, allowing us to weave a rich narrative around the limited historical information available.  While I won't spoil Basim's story or his connection to existing lore, his unique perspective as someone navigating two worlds presents exciting opportunities within the Japanese setting, complementing Senu and Bayek's experiences."

Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to release on March 20th for PS5, XSX|S, and PC.
