Santa Monica Studio commemorates two decades of God of War with a special update for Ragnarok, adding content inspired by the franchise's Greek origins.

The original God of War, launched in 2005, achieved immense success and established a beloved PlayStation franchise, drawing heavily from Greek mythology for six installments.

The series transitioned to Norse mythology with the 2018 soft reboot, culminating in God of War Ragnarok (2022), which concluded the Norse saga and hinted at future possibilities.

The 20th anniversary update, arriving March 20th for PS4/PS5 and PC, introduces the "Dark Odyssey" collection, a nostalgic nod to the original game's codename.

This collection includes the Dark Odyssey Appearance for Kratos, a striking black-and-gold skin reminiscent of the God of War 2 God Mode completion reward.

The Dark Odyssey Armor Set for Kratos, along with themed attire for companions Atreus and Freya, further extends the anniversary aesthetic.

Kratos' weapons, attachments, and shields also receive the black-and-gold treatment, applicable to fully upgraded items.

The update also introduces the ability to customize attachment and shield rond appearances using the Edit Appearance feature.

While this anniversary content delights fans, rumors of a remastered Greek saga collection remain unsubstantiated, despite speculation surrounding a March 22nd announcement.

Santa Monica Studio confirmed no new God of War announcements are planned for this event, leaving the future of potential remasters unclear.
