Developer Frogwares has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2, aiming to fund and shape the sequel's development towards a projected 2025 release. Building upon the Lovecraftian universe of the original, The Sinking City 2 promises a shift towards a full-blown survival horror experience.

While the first game embraced action-adventure elements, this sequel aims to immerse players in a truly terrifying world inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.  The original Sinking City earned praise for its open-world detective gameplay, intricate world-building, and compelling narrative set in the flooded city of Oakmont, Massachusetts during the 1920s.

The original Sinking City may also see a resurgence, with whispers of a potential remaster circulating. Frogwares confirmed the Kickstarter launch for The Sinking City 2 on its Steam page, outlining various backer rewards, community events, and behind-the-scenes content.  Exclusive physical Collector's and Limited Editions are also available, featuring the iconic Cthulhu.

Backers will get exclusive early access to new environments, creatures, and gameplay features.  Community challenges and events are planned to engage fans and unveil secrets ahead of the game's release.

The Sinking City 2 boasts a standalone storyline, transporting players to 1920s Arkham in the wake of a supernatural flood.  While echoing the name of the infamous asylum in the Batman universe, this Arkham holds its own unique horrors. The sequel promises a return of the eldritch monsters, rendered in terrifying detail using Unreal Engine 5. A Collector's Edition figurine of a new fish creature is also on offer.

With a potential 2025 release, six years after the original, fans hope The Sinking City 2 will address the technical performance issues that hampered the first game.  The power of Unreal Engine 5 gives hope for a smoother and more immersive experience in Arkham, especially with the sequel's increased focus on combat.
