Nintendo Removing 'Super Soccer' from Switch Online: First Game to Be Delisted
2025-03-03 16:33:34Since the launch of Nintendo Switch Online in 2018, a vast collection of classic 8-bit and 16-bit retro games has been steadily added to the service's library. Subscribers now have access to a catalog of over 300 titles spanning various platforms including NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
However, Nintendo has announced the upcoming removal of 'Super Soccer' from the Switch Online service on March 28th. This is the first instance of a game being delisted from the NSO library.
Following the initial announcement in Japan, Nintendo has updated the Nintendo eShop in North America and Europe with similar notices, confirming the game's removal in those regions on the same date. The specific reasons for the delisting remain unclear as Nintendo hasn't offered an official explanation.
This removal suggests that the Switch Online game library may not be a permanent archive. While it's reasonable to assume that first-party Nintendo titles will remain available until the service's eventual discontinuation, the possibility of other third-party games being removed in the future cannot be ruled out.
