The enhanced edition of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is bringing more than just a visual upgrade.  Rextro's Arcade, a collection of minigames in the 2017 original, has been completely transformed into a dedicated platforming experience called 'Rextro Bytes Back.' Players will guide the titular dinosaur through a series of challenging levels.

Rextro comes equipped with unique mechanics, like using his extendable neck to attack enemies and grapple onto platforms to traverse gaps.  Players will need to collect coins, push keys onto pressure plates to unlock pathways, and navigate treacherous hazards.  Eight levels are available to conquer, each offering medals upon completion that can be exchanged for valuable Pagies.

The enhanced edition of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is slated for release on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and a Nintendo platform.  This strongly suggests a release on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. While rumors point to a Switch 2 launch later this year, perhaps even a reveal at a rumored April 2nd Nintendo Direct, Playtonic has yet to confirm a specific release window for the remastered title.
