God of War Remaster Rumors Resurface: 20th Anniversary Reveal Imminent?

Rumors surrounding a potential God of War remaster collection have resurfaced, giving fans renewed hope for a return to Kratos' Greek adventures.

The God of War franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary in March 2025, and speculation about a remastered collection of the original games has been circulating for some time.  Previous rumors pointed to announcements at The Game Awards 2024 and a February 2025 State of Play, but neither materialized.

Reputable industry insider Jeff Grubb has reignited these rumors, suggesting the previous speculation might have simply "jumped the gun."  Grubb indicates the remaster project could be unveiled around the same time as the upcoming 20th-anniversary exhibition at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California, scheduled for March 15-23.

This potential timeframe places the announcement less than a month away.  Grubb's track record with PlayStation-related leaks lends credence to this possibility, further amplified by insider Tom Henderson’s recent suggestion of a return to Greece with a younger Kratos in the next God of War installment.

Should Santa Monica Studio indeed reveal a remastered collection, the question remains: which games will be included? The Greek saga boasts three mainline titles, a couple of PSP spin-offs, and the 2013 prequel God of War: Ascension.

Ideally, the collection would encompass all six Greek era titles.  A more conservative prediction might see a remaster of the original God of War, with the remaining titles (excluding Ascension) potentially becoming accessible through the PS Plus Premium classics catalog.
