Blizzard Entertainment continues to expand the Overwatch 2 universe with the announcement of two new heroes slated for release in 2025. Maintaining their established pattern of three hero releases per year, Blizzard revealed Freja, a Damage hero, and Aqua, a Support hero, during a recent Overwatch 2 Spotlight event.

Following the 2024 additions of Venture (Damage), Juno (Support), and Hazard (Tank), the upcoming Season 15 will offer a limited-time trial for the highly anticipated Freja.  While Season 15 won't introduce a brand new hero, it will pave the way for Freja's official debut in Season 16.

Hailing from Denmark, Freja, Hero 43, is a former Overwatch Search & Rescue Operative turned bounty hunter.  This "wind dasher" boasts a unique skillset centered around mobility and a rapid-fire crossbow capable of launching explosive bolts.  Her cape grants extended airtime and jump boosts, while a quick dash ability automatically reloads her explosive bolts.  A powerful bola rounds out her kit, ensnaring enemies within its radius. Blizzard describes Freja as one of the most skill-dependent characters in the game, promising a thrilling challenge for Damage players.
