Dark Souls Remastered has just received a game-changing update with the release of a seamless co-op mod, developed by the acclaimed modder Yui. The mod's arrival has reignited the passion of thousands of players, who have returned to Dark Souls Remastered to experience the game in an entirely new way.

Yui, a prominent figure in the modding community with numerous successful projects under their belt, has been busy this year. After introducing seamless co-op multiplayer to Dark Souls 3 in February 2025, they shifted focus to creating a similar experience for Dark Souls Remastered.

The first public release of Yui's Dark Souls Remastered seamless co-op mod was uploaded to Nexus Mods on April 10. Within just 72 hours, the mod was downloaded by over 10,000 users, totaling 12,150 downloads. This impressive response suggests that countless FromSoftware fans are eager to revisit the game with the new co-op functionality.

While traditional multiplayer in Dark Souls Remastered bosses has always allowed for cooperative play, Yui's mod revolutionizes the experience by enabling persistent multiplayer sessions. Players can now journey through the entire game without being separated by deaths or area transitions. This enhancement not only makes tackling the game's toughest challenges more convenient but also opens up new exploration opportunities, as parties remain intact even after defeating bosses.

To balance the newfound ease of cooperative play, the mod introduces multiplayer scaling for all enemies, not just bosses. This adjustment ensures that the game remains challenging, as most areas were originally designed for single-player experiences. However, players who prefer a more relaxed experience can disable this feature in the mod's configuration file (ds1sc_settings.ini). Additionally, the mod offers the option to turn off invasions entirely, transforming Dark Souls Remastered into a pure PvE adventure.

One important note is that the mod uses separate save files from the base game, meaning co-op progress cannot be transferred to the vanilla version. The mod also operates on a peer-to-peer system rather than connecting to FromSoftware's servers, ensuring it is safe to use without risk of bans. With this project now complete, the community eagerly awaits Yui's next innovation.
