Dragon Quest XI S Returns to Switch eShop with Permanent Price Drop and Publisher Change

Earlier this year, Square Enix temporarily removed Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition from the North American and European Nintendo Switch eShops for undisclosed reasons. The popular RPG has now made its return, with a permanent price reduction to $39.99, down from its original price of $49.99.

Furthermore, the game's publisher has shifted from Nintendo to Square Enix. This aligns with a recent trend seen with other Square Enix titles, such as Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy, which were also temporarily delisted and subsequently re-released under Square Enix's own publishing banner.  Previously, Nintendo handled publishing duties for several Square Enix games in these regions.

This practice of temporary delisting and republishing titles seems to be part of Square Enix's strategy to consolidate its publishing efforts in Western markets.  The shift brings these titles in line with the company's broader global publishing approach.  Examples include Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy, which were also temporarily taken down before returning with Square Enix listed as the publisher.  Prior to this change, Nintendo often served as the publisher for numerous Square Enix games in North America and Europe.
