**About the Game:**
The Stone of Madness is a real-time tactical stealth experience set within the oppressive walls of an 18th-century Spanish monastery in the Pyrenees Mountains, repurposed as a brutal asylum and prison. Five inmates, each burdened by their past traumas and the encroaching madness of their confinement, must band together. By combining their unique skills and limited resources, they strive to maintain their sanity, unravel the mysteries hidden within the monastery, and find a way to break free.
**Breaking Free:**
Escape from the heavily guarded monastery is a perilous undertaking. Agnes, Leonora, Eduardo, Amelia, and Alfredo are determined to overcome all obstacles in their path to freedom. Players will switch between these five characters, utilizing their unique upgradable abilities: casting spells, assassinating targets, creating distractions, stunning foes, and accessing hidden areas.
Explore the environment, combining character skills to uncover clues and vital tools scattered throughout the monastery. Caution is paramount; guards show no mercy to those caught out of place.
**Maintaining Sanity:**
Survival within the monastery depends on carefully managing each character's mental state. Every playable character has a unique set of traumas and fears. Triggering these drains their sanity, potentially leading to traumatic episodes and debilitating effects like paranoia, dementia, or violent outbursts. These episodes significantly impact the affected character's gameplay.
**Unveiling Secrets:**
Choose from two distinct campaigns, each offering unique storylines, objectives, characters, and surprises. Time is a constant pressure in The Stone of Madness. Every action has consequences, demanding careful consideration from the player.
Stealth, exploration, and information gathering are best conducted during daylight hours when guards are more easily distracted. However, as night falls, the supernatural entities lurking within the monastery emerge, posing a grave threat to the characters' sanity. Night provides opportunities for strategic planning and escape preparations. Those daring enough to explore after curfew face heightened challenges, including stricter guard patrols and lethal consequences. But sometimes, the greatest risks yield the greatest rewards.
**A Haunting Artistic Vision:**
Inspired by the haunting works of 18th-century artist Francisco Goya, The Stone of Madness features stunning hand-painted visuals, brought to life through meticulous frame-by-frame animation. The isometric perspective enhances the striking visual style, allowing players to observe every intricate detail as they navigate the monastery, as if stepping into a living Goya painting.
