Over a decade after the release of Season of Storms, Andrzej Sapkowski, the author behind The Witcher series, has penned a new novel, Crossroads of Ravens (originally published in Polish). English-speaking fans won't have to wait much longer to delve into this latest installment.

Previously hinted to focus on Geralt's younger years before his established career as a monster slayer, the prequel has now been officially titled Crossroads of Ravens in a recent press release from English publisher Hachette.  Even better news: the global release date is set for September 30th of this year. The translation will be handled by David French, who has already translated six of the eight existing Witcher books.

Sapkowski has offered insights into the prequel's narrative, promising a fascinating look into Geralt's origins.  "In Crossroads of Ravens," he explains,  "I return to the beginning of Geralt's journey – not the seasoned monster hunter we know, but a young witcher just beginning to grasp the weight of his destiny.  Imagine Geralt, but younger, with fewer scars, and a touch more arrogance."

He continues, "This is a story about coming-of-age, about idealism colliding with harsh realities, and about the choices that forge legends. It's about finding your place in a world that constantly challenges you and pushes you beyond what you think you're capable of."  Sapkowski expressed his excitement for readers to experience this journey alongside a younger Geralt, "to witness the trials that shaped him and the path that led him to his destiny."

With CD Projekt Red's upcoming projects, like the in-development Witcher 4, and now Sapkowski's new book just months away, it's an exciting time to be a Witcher fan. The upcoming Project Sirius also promises a unique experience, with developers stating it will be "distinct from past CD Projekt Red releases."
