A new JRPG adventure is on the horizon.  Midgar Studio, the developers of Edge of Eternity, and publisher Nacon have announced their next project: Edge of Memories. Set in the same universe but on a new continent ravaged by a mysterious plague known as Corrosion, this game promises a fresh take on the JRPG genre.

What truly sets Edge of Memories apart is the incredible talent assembled for its development.  The project boasts a dream team of industry veterans, bringing together expertise from some of the most beloved JRPGs of all time.

The musical score is being crafted by a trio of renowned composers. Yasunori Mitsuda, known for his iconic work on Chrono Trigger and Xenogears, returns to lend his musical genius to the project.  Joining him are Mariam Abounnasr, the arranger for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3, and Emi Evans, the vocalist behind memorable tracks in NieR and NieR: Automata.

Visually, Edge of Memories is in the capable hands of Raita Kazama, the character designer behind Xenoblade Chronicles X. His distinct style promises to bring the world of Avaris and its inhabitants to life.

The narrative is being penned by Sawako Natori, the writer of NieR and Drakengard, ensuring a compelling story filled with intrigue and emotion.

And for the combat, Midgar Studio has enlisted the expertise of Mitsuru Yokoyama, the combat designer of Final Fantasy XV.  This collaboration signals a shift from Edge of Eternity's turn-based combat to a dynamic real-time action system.

Players will take control of Eline, a warrior capable of executing fluid combos and unleashing powerful abilities.  By utilizing a rage gauge, Eline can transform into a Berserker, gaining access to devastating attacks that can turn the tide of battle.

This shift to real-time action combat marks a major departure from Edge of Eternity's grid-based, turn-based system.  While Edge of Eternity offered strategic depth through its tactical combat, Edge of Memories promises a more visceral and fast-paced experience.

Whether you're a fan of Edge of Eternity eager to explore more of its universe or simply intrigued by the impressive team behind this project, Edge of Memories is one to watch.  The game is slated for release in Fall 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
