Diablo 4 Players Advocate for Account-Wide Stronghold Unlocks

Experimenting with different character builds and exploring Sanctuary has always been a core element of the Diablo 4 experience.  However, the repetitive nature of unlocking Strongholds for each character has led players to request a change: account-wide Stronghold unlocks.  This improvement could streamline gameplay and motivate players to engage with this content more readily.

The Diablo series has long been defined by its loot-driven gameplay. The thrill of discovering powerful weapons, armor, and amulets remains central to the experience.  This makes it crucial that the process of acquiring these items, and other resources like Renown Points, remains engaging and rewarding.  Currently, many players find repeatedly clearing Strongholds on multiple characters to be tedious, hindering their enjoyment of the game.

A recent Reddit post by user YerBoyAlex highlighted the community's desire for account-wide Stronghold unlocks.  The post resonated with numerous players who echoed the sentiment that while Strongholds can be initially enjoyable, they quickly become a chore when leveling alternate characters. Some players even avoid Strongholds altogether due to their repetitive nature.  Implementing account-wide unlocks could revitalize this aspect of the game.

Strongholds represent challenging, overtaken settlements in Diablo 4, promising rewards for those who can overcome their dangers.  While chaotic battles are a hallmark of the Diablo franchise, Strongholds demand a significant investment of skill and strategy, often disproportionate to the rewards offered.  These encounters are typically two or more levels higher than the player's character, leading to demanding fights against hordes of enemies.  The primary reward for completing a Stronghold is Renown points, used for character progression and upgrades.

Players are currently engaged in Season 7, the Season of Witchcraft, which follows the Season of Hatred and the introduction of Diablo 4's first major DLC.  Season 7 brought a range of new features and changes, with further updates planned for the future. Season 8 is slated for release on April 15, 2025.
