Developer Funcom, renowned for their work on the popular survival MMO Conan Exiles, recently released a trailer revealing the official release date for Dune: Awakening. After a period of anticipation and speculation, fans can finally mark their calendars and prepare to embark on their own Arrakis adventure.

A recent hands-on preview of Dune: Awakening showcased the challenging nature of survival on Arrakis. Players begin as prisoners stranded in the vast desert, forced to contend with the harsh elements, scarce resources, and dangerous creatures. Water is a precious commodity, and the scorching sun poses a constant threat. Bandits and the colossal Shai-Hulud sandworms lurk in the shadows, ready to strike at the unwary.  Death at the jaws of a sandworm results in the permanent loss of a player's current inventory, adding another layer of risk to the gameplay.

Crafting plays a crucial role in survival.  Players must scavenge resources to create essential items such as stillsuits and body shields to protect themselves from the harsh environment.  As they progress, they can construct complex bases and vehicles to navigate the treacherous terrain. The game also features a robust skill system, allowing players to develop unique abilities such as Bene Gesserit Voice training and Mentat computing powers.
