Epic Games has taken strong action against a Fortnite player caught cheating in the FNCS (Fortnite Championship Series). The developer required the player to issue a public apology video and donate their prize money to charity.

The player, known as RepulseGod, was found to have fraudulently qualified for the FNCS 2023 Global Championship, which boasted a $4 million prize pool. Epic Games pursued legal action against the cheater.

Fortnite, the online battle royale sandbox released in 2017, features various game modes like Save the World, Creative, and Lego Fortnite.  The FNCS is a prestigious annual esports tournament and ranks among the top gaming competitions worldwide.

The Fortnite Competitive team released a statement on Twitter detailing the legal measures taken against the cheater. They highlighted the player's permanent ban from Fortnite tournaments, echoing a similar case from last year involving another player sued by Fortnite for using illicit software and hardware.

In the mandated apology video, the player admitted to sharing their account with a friend to qualify for the tournament, a clear violation of Epic's rules. This public apology serves as a stark warning to other potential cheaters.

A 2024 study ranked Fortnite second only to Valorant for its anti-cheat software, placing it among prominent titles like Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Overwatch 2.  Epic Games demonstrates its commitment to fair play by taking cheating seriously and enforcing penalties.

The cheater is required to pay a monetary settlement, including their prize winnings, which Epic Games will donate to charity.  This action underscores their commitment to upholding the integrity of competitive Fortnite.

Epic Games recently released a trailer unveiling the heist theme of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2.  The trailer showcased new gameplay features, Battle Pass skins like Big Dill and The Brat, the return of loot-filled duffel bags, an upgraded map with rail grinding, new weapons, gadgets, and heist-themed rewards.

The trailer also teased the previously leaked Rocket Drill and offered a glimpse of the laser beam used for vault penetration.
