Sony Rewards PlayStation Network Users with Exclusive Perks in PC Ports
2025-01-30 03:07:38Sony is bridging the gap between its console and PC gaming ecosystems by offering exclusive in-game perks to players who link their PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts while playing select PlayStation titles on PC.
This initiative comes after a recent surge of PlayStation exclusives making their way to the PC platform. 2024 saw the PC release of God of War Ragnarok, following the earlier PC port of Horizon Zero Dawn. The remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn also launched on both PS5 and PC in October.
The trend continues into 2025 with the highly anticipated PC release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on January 30th, followed by The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on April 3rd. Both titles boast enhanced features for PC gamers.
Previously, the requirement of a PSN account for some PC ports sparked controversy among players, particularly those in regions where the service wasn't accessible. Now, Sony is aiming to turn this requirement into a benefit by offering exclusive content as an incentive.
Connecting a PSN account to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC unlocks two exclusive suits: the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit for Peter Parker and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered players receive the Nora Valiant outfit from the start.
God of War Ragnarok players who connect their PSN account gain early access to Kratos’s Armor of the Black Bear set, usually acquired through New Game Plus, plus a resource bundle. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered players receive 50 points for unlocking bonus features and can equip Ellie with Jordan’s Jacket, an item from Naughty Dog’s upcoming PS5 title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Sony has pledged to collaborate with PlayStation Studios to expand these offerings, providing further incentives for PC players who connect their PSN accounts. Although the PSN account requirement previously faced criticism, these new bonuses might encourage wider adoption, particularly for upcoming releases like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part 2 on PC. However, regional availability of the PSN service remains a potential barrier for some players.
