God of War: Ragnarok marks the end of the series' Norse saga, leaving fans wondering where Kratos will venture next.  Recent rumors point towards the franchise exploring Egyptian mythology.

This speculation stems from a new job posting, indicating Sony is seeking a Middle Eastern male actor for their next AAA title.  Many believe this project to be the next God of War game.

The God of War franchise previously delved into Greek mythology before its Norse foray.

Reports suggest that Egyptian mythology was considered as a setting back in 2018 when Sony Santa Monica revived the series. However, the team ultimately chose Norse mythology for the recent installments.

Creative Director Cory Barlog hinted at this possibility in a past interview.  "I think the one I pitched was, we didn't even know what it was going to be so Kratos was walking across the desert – I think we were still doing Egypt originally – and the wind's whipping around him and he’s climbing this dune and looking over this incredibly fantastical ancient city," Barlog shared.

It remains uncertain whether both Kratos and his son Atreus will return for this potential Egyptian adventure.
