Developer Boris Novikov achieved what many considered impossible by reconstructing City 17 for the Quest 3. The resulting demo showcases smooth navigation through City 17 with functional object interactions, maintaining up to 72 FPS despite occasional performance dips.

Novikov's project was inspired by technological progress since Half-Life: Alyx's debut and the original Oculus Quest. His hypothesis about the XR2 Gen 2 chipset's capabilities proved accurate, coinciding with rumors of Valve developing a wireless VR headset with comparable hardware.
