Assassin's Creed Mirage Sets New Standard, Ubisoft Says, Deflecting Valhalla Comparisons
2025-03-26 11:02:31According to IGN, Ubisoft recently emailed employees, stating that comparing Assassin's Creed Mirage directly to Valhalla is inaccurate due to the differing market landscapes during each game's launch.
Ubisoft explained, "Valhalla launched under unique circumstances, coinciding with widespread lockdowns and the introduction of new gaming hardware."
The company believes comparing Mirage to titles like Origins, Odyssey, and Phantom—games released under more typical circumstances—is a more appropriate benchmark. From this perspective, Ubisoft asserts Mirage has "set a new standard."
The email also addressed player engagement. Ubisoft stated feedback on "moderated, verified platforms (less susceptible to review bombing) remains overwhelmingly positive," even suggesting the game is experiencing "record-breaking" levels of engagement.
Finally, Ubisoft reinforced the success of its decision to return to Steam, citing data that "strongly validates our choice to relaunch on the platform."
