Square Enix has released a substantial update for the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection on Steam, bringing the version to 1.2.0.  This patch addresses various bugs, improves UI elements, and introduces specific gameplay adjustments across all six titles in the collection.  Players can now download the individual updates for each game, with varying file sizes.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series offers a nostalgic journey back to the roots of the iconic RPG franchise.  Each game features enhanced 16-bit-era graphics and offers the choice between the original soundtracks and remastered versions. While initially launched on Steam and mobile, the collection has since made its way to modern consoles, most recently appearing on Xbox Series X/S during the 2024 Tokyo Game Show.

Final Fantasy 14 players anticipating news about future content are encouraged to keep an eye out for announcements around the second Friday of March, as teased by Square Enix.

This 1.2.0 update marks the first major update to the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series in over a year.  Each game has received improvements to its user interface and controls, along with fixes for bugs that hindered story progression and achievement tracking.

Final Fantasy 1 and 2 received smaller updates, while the other titles saw more substantial changes. Final Fantasy 3 now includes a Job Level Boost feature, allowing players to apply multipliers to earned Job experience points. In Final Fantasy 4, Rosa's Float spell persists through dungeon transitions, and her battle command order has been adjusted. Final Fantasy 6 features changes to the Cid event, experience point compensation for rejoining characters, adjustments to Sabin's Blitz command, and fixes for issues related to the iconic "Dancing Mad" musical piece.

While fans eagerly await a potential remake of Final Fantasy 6 on par with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project, the Pixel Remaster collection remains the most accessible way to experience these classic RPGs.
