Monster Hunter: Wilds Launch Day Improvements Detailed: Performance, Gameplay, and Weapon Adjustments

Monster Hunter: Wilds faced criticism from PC players during its initial beta tests due to optimization issues.  While the second beta didn't fully implement the planned adjustments, Capcom has now revealed a comprehensive list of improvements for the launch version of the game. These changes target performance, gameplay mechanics, and several weapon types.

Performance Enhancements:

  • Capcom is aiming for the following performance improvements in the launch version:
  • Rendering errors in Frame Rate Priority mode have been fixed, and overall performance has been improved.

Gameplay Adjustments: Hitstop/Sound Effects:** Adjustments, primarily to major attacks and combo finishers, have been made to enhance the impact of combat.

Friendly Fire Reduction: Several weapon adjustments implemented during the beta tests reduced the impact of accidental hits on teammates. Further reductions to the Hammer’s sweeping attacks will be included in the launch version.  Additionally, a new decoration (Buffer Jewel) will be available to negate the effects of friendly fire.

Monster Movement Frequency: Monster movement frequency will be adjusted to be more in line with Monster Hunter: World.  Players can utilize the sub-camps and fast travel system to manage this.

Weapon-Specific Changes:

  • Insect Glaive: A new Diving Dance move enhances aerial combat, allowing for follow-up aerial attacks after jumping. Each Diving Dance increases the power of subsequent aerial attacks, stacking up to two times. The initial part of the Diving Wyvern now has a counter effect.  The Kinsect's orange extract effect now prevents knockback when drawing the weapon.  Absorbing red, white, and orange extracts now reduces the effects of wind pressure, tremors, and roars.
  • Lance: The Lance's Guard Charge can now block attacks during its charge period and can be executed after any other action.  The higher the damage of an attack absorbed during Power Guard, the faster the charge level increases.
  • Switch Axe: New moves have been added that can be performed after a Perfect Guard or Power Guard.  Several adjustments have been made to improve the flow of building gauge in Axe mode and expending it in Sword mode.  Various attacks, including the Zero Sum Discharge, have received damage buffs.  The Zero Sum Discharge now also negates knockback.
  • Sword and Shield: An Advancing Slash can now be performed from a guard.  Damage values for various attacks, especially regular attacks and Perfect Rushes, have been increased. Responsiveness has been improved for basic combos incorporating movement, such as the Slash and Wide Slash, as well as for moves like the Guard Slash and Perfect Rush.  The backstep and sliding slash's evasive capabilities have been enhanced.
  • Bow: Overall attack power for moves like the standard shot and Arc Shot has been increased, responsiveness has been improved, and the power of the Power Shot has been adjusted for better damage output balance.  Focus Shot will no longer target multiple wounds simultaneously but will instead target and break each wound individually.

Other Weapons: Extensive adjustments have been made to various stats based on the official launch version's attributes, skills, and post-game content.  Certain attacks that had lower hitboxes and damage compared to previous Monster Hunter titles have been adjusted.

Global Release Schedule: The PC Steam version is still scheduled for release on the 28th at 1 PM.
