After a rocky start on Steam, Overwatch 2 is finally seeing a shift in player sentiment.  For the first time since its launch on the platform in 2023, recent reviews have climbed to 'Mixed', a notable improvement from the 'Overwhelmingly Negative' rating it previously held.

This positive momentum comes on the heels of the successful Season 15 launch, which introduced several key features and content updates. The return of Loot Boxes, a highly requested feature by the community, has been met with enthusiasm.  The implementation of the innovative Perks system, which allows players to customize their heroes' abilities, has also added a new layer of depth and strategy to the gameplay.

Beyond the new features, the hype surrounding Season 15 was further fueled by the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event.  This event provided a glimpse into the future of the game, showcasing upcoming content like the Stadium game mode, new heroes Freya and Aqua, and a variety of new maps.

The game's re-release in China also plays a significant role in its improved reception.  A large portion of the initial negative reviews on Steam originated from Chinese players, and their return to the game has undoubtedly contributed to the rising ratings.

The positive shift isn't limited to Steam. Overwatch 2 also witnessed a substantial increase in Twitch viewership, reaching over 130,000 concurrent viewers during the Season 15 launch period. This surge in popularity on streaming platforms further solidifies the game's renewed momentum.
