A new title is poised to capture the hearts of retro gaming enthusiasts: Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo.  This upcoming game evokes the charm of the Game Boy Advance era with its pixelated visuals, vibrant colors, and chiptune-inspired soundtrack. Developed by Pocket Trap and published by PM Studios, this 2D top-down adventure introduces a unique gameplay mechanic - the 'yoyovania'.

Players take on the role of Pippit, a bat wielding a yoyo as both a weapon and a versatile navigation tool.  Explore a sprawling city divided into four distinct neighborhoods, each ruled by a formidable crime lord. Mastering clever yoyo tricks is key to overcoming challenges, solving puzzles, and reaching seemingly inaccessible areas.  This innovative approach to gameplay promises a fresh and engaging experience.

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will also find a familiar title joining the platform's catalog. The game will launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on May 28, 2025.  Eager fans can already pre-order the game or try out the available demo.  A Collector's Edition, including a Pippit plushie, is available for those wanting a physical copy.  Currently, the Collector's Edition is confirmed for PS5 and Switch, with availability for other platforms yet to be announced.

The story follows Pippit's quest to restore his family's honor after his aunt's abduction.  The game features a deep and engaging story, along with robust gameplay mechanics. Players can collect over 20 passive upgrades and more than 40 badges to customize Pippit's abilities and yoyo behavior.  Over 80 collectibles are hidden throughout the city, offering additional rewards and secrets to discover.

Behind Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is Pocket Trap, a small Brazilian indie studio known for its colorful and lighthearted titles like Dodgeball Academia and Ninjin: Clash of Carrots.  Their experience also extends to animation, having co-created the NINJIN series for Cartoon Network Brazil and HBO Max.  Their signature style shines through in this latest title, promising a charming and entertaining experience.
